Meet The Team

Dr. Anne-Marie Horwitz

Ann Marie

Anne-Marie grew up in Perth and graduated from MUVH Veterinary School in 1983. She then moved to Melbourne and worked there for 10 years before returning to Western Australia and settling in Albany in 1992. She started working at LAVH at the end of that year and has been here ever since!

Anne-Marie has 2 daughters aged 21 and 23 who are both studying in Perth and so Perth is trying to lure her back, but the natural beauty of Albany and the pleasure she derives from her work place in the staff , customers and their pets keeps her well footed in Albany. She loves walking on the beach with her dog Ebony, and playing tennis.

Dr. Helen Grandage

Helen graduated from MUVH in 1990 and spent 7 years working in the UK. Helen returned to Perth and worked at the Murdoch University Small Animal General Practice for 7 years.

Helen successfully sat her memberships of ACVS in Small Animal Medicine in 2000 and then started a breeding program resulting in 3 children! In 2006 Helen and her family moved to Albany for a 5 month stay and fell in love with Albany and refused to go back to Perth, Helen has been working at Lockyer Avenue Veterinary Hospital since.

Helen has a dog named Herry and two pet rats.

Hannah Chadfield Veterinary Nurse

Hannah started working at Lockyer Avenue Veterinary Hospital in 2006 as a school student on work experience. We were so happy with her we offered her a job and she completed her veterinary nursing training via correspondence in Perth.

Hannah graduated with her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing on 29th May 2009. Hannah loves her pets Chilli the Border collie with a blue eye and Bailey her cat. She recently got engaged to her lovely partner Matt.

Sarah Smith Veterinary Nurse

Sarah has been working at Lockyer Avenue Veterinary Hospital since the start of 2011 and loving it. Since she was a little girl Sarah wanted to be a veterinary nurse and this dream has been made possible by doing work experience at our clinic and showing such potential that we offered her a job.

Sarah is currently completing her Veterinary Nursing studies and will be fully qualified soon. Sarah has a Border Collie named Bow and a cat named Izzy.

We are very fortunate to have the expertise and assistance from several experienced vets and veterinary nurses as our regular locums.

Dr. Danny Theiss graduated from Murdoch University in 1998 and comes in to work when we need another veterinarian. He is a quiet, compassionate vet with a wealth of experience in mixed animal practice and is an invaluable locum.

Melissa and Coral are experienced veterinary nurses who have worked here at LAVH on and off in the past 10 years. Although they are currently busy in other jobs and enterprises they are happy to help out when we need a locum nurse and their enthusiasm, knowledge and experience in veterinary nursing is much appreciated.
